Connecting All Learners With the Expert Teachers They Deserve
Proximity Learning livestreams certified teachers into districts in pursuit of greater educational equity.
Simple Solutions to Teacher Shortages and Equity Gaps in the Classroom
Fill Teacher Vacancies and Get Students Engaged and Excelling
With a rising demand for certified teachers and an ongoing shortage, many Hawai‘i schools begin the year with unfilled positions. Hawai‘i Educational Resource Experts (H.E.R.E.) helps bridge these gaps through our Proximity Learning solution. We provide certified, live-streamed guest educators who engage students synchronously and deliver standards-aligned instruction — serving seamlessly until a long-term teacher can be placed.
Livestreamed Certified Teachers for Immediate Coverage
Our state-certified teacher staffing solution is interim support for when a school cannot fill a position. With livestreaming, students continue to access core classes and a rich selection of courses, including world languages, electives, and more. These guest teachers are trained in synchronous virtual instruction and deliver dynamic, standards-aligned instruction. We align with your curriculum's scope and sequence, grading policies, and bell schedule.
Students everywhere deserve a quality education from exceptional teachers. We reduce unnecessary barriers between students and teachers — helping schools protect learning time, boost achievement, and promote educational equity.
For over 10 years, Proximity Learning has been making it easier for districts to connect their students with the teachers they deserve. We remove unnecessary barriers between students and teachers through our live-streaming virtual classroom, enabling young learners to receive a more equitable education. Learn more about how we can do the same for your school.
And when your school finds a longer-term solution — such as an emergency hire, J-1 educator, or substitute — we can seamlessly pivot into a co-teaching and mentoring model to support both student learning and teacher development.
Mentoring & Co-Teaching Support for In-Building Educators
Even when a school fills a vacancy, newly placed teachers may need additional support — especially if they’re new to the classroom, transitioning from another state or country, or holding an emergency credential.
H.E.R.E. offers flexible mentoring and co-teaching services during the first few months or semester of placement to ensure students continue receiving high-quality, standards-aligned instruction while newly placed educators—such as emergency hires, J-1 visa holders, or long-term substitutes—gain the coaching, modeling, and feedback they need to grow.
Our certified content-area mentors support new teachers in developing effective instructional practices, planning rigorous lessons, and establishing strong classroom management skills. Daily debrief sessions during the designated planning period promote reflective dialogue using prompts like “What did you notice? What do you wonder?” to support a growth mindset.
This integrated support model reduces teacher stress and burnout, builds educator confidence, and improves teacher retention—while meeting the professional development needs of new staff and the instructional needs of students.
Through our virtual co-teaching model, a certified content expert collaborates with the classroom teacher to:
Provide real-time modeling and instructional support
Help teachers develop standards-based lesson plans with rigor and relevance
Offer formative feedback and coaching to improve practice
Ensure all students receive high-quality, standards-aligned instruction
This support is ideal for emergency hires, J-1 educators, long-term substitutes, and new-to-role teachers — particularly in hard-to-fill areas like math, science, SPED, and secondary courses.
